Random Act of Kindness

Occasionally I like to pick someone to do something nice for them, out of the blue.  I do this because (1) I want to teach my sons to be kind to others and (2) it is a lot of fun.  I usually struggle with what to do for neighbors as many of them are elderly and have dietary restrictions.  So for them it may be raking their leaves or leaving flowers on their doorstep.

It is also fun to do something nice for a complete stranger.  I remember once driving to my parent's house and going over a bridge to get there.  Someone had paid the toll for me so I in return paid the toll for the car behind me.  This probably went on for a few hours.  That simple act made a lot of people happy that day.  Now I have fastrack, which makes life easier but there is no stopping and talking to the toll worker to pay for the car behind me.

Do you ever do a Random Act of Kindness for someone?  If so, please share ideas.  If you haven't, I highly recommend it.  It is an easy way to feel great.  =)

Charities

It's that time of year for me... donation time!  Usually in December I sit down and decide which charities I will donate money to and how much.  Even if it is only $5, I believe it can still make quite a difference.

Do you have a favorite charity?  If so, what is it?  A few of my favorite charities are the United Way, the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season.  Thank you for reading In The Sandbox!

What are you asking Santa for?

We went to see Santa today.  Now the presents are locked in!  Which is good because my oldest son has a knack for inventing toys to ask Santa for.  Last year was tough.  He decided he wanted a robot arm.  Not the WHOLE robot, he just wanted the arm.  After searching around for a while, we found a robotic arm kit at a hobby shop.  Ugh, playing Santa can be tough!

Luckily for us, this year he asked for a game that we were able to order online!  =)

Performance Review Time

I had to turn in my performance review last week.  I always seems odd to write about myself in the third person.  It's just awkward.

Thanksgiving Week!

Here is a preview of the comic strip that will be posted on Tuesday at GoComics.com.

I have never cooked a turkey before.  This is the year for me.  I have to admit I am a bit nervous.  I bought the turkey today.  It is a 22lb bird.  It needs 5 days to thaw.  I don't have 5 days.  I guess I will be thawing it with water.  The craziness has already begun.  =)
